The Drawing Center | New York City
June 20, 2023
The Drawing Center and FSA collaborated on a program in June 2023, entitled: “A Greater Beauty: Leeza Ahmady and Paul-Gordon Chandler on Spirituality, Art, and the Legacy of Kahlil Gibran.” This public program was held in conjunction with The Drawing Center’s critically esteemed exhibition, “A Greater Beauty: The Drawings of Kahlil Gibran” (June 2 – September 3, 2023).
In this thought-provoking event, FSA Director of Programs Leeza Ahmady facilitated an enlightening conversation with Paul-Gordon Chandler, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming and esteemed author of In Search of a Prophet: A Spiritual Journey with Kahlil Gibran. Together, they explored the profound connections between Gibran’s timeless artistry and the enduring influence of religious faith and spiritual expression throughout the realm of art. Please find video documentation of this program in the grid below.
“A Greater Beauty” at The Drawing Center is the first major exhibition on Gibran in the US, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of Gibran’s world-renowned publication, The Prophet. Featuring over one hundred drawings, including finished watercolors and graphite compositions, the exhibition also highlights studies, sketches, and manuscripts.
